Project summary

The goal of the project is to empower conscious electoral participation of youth from RO, HU, ES, EL and LT through intercultural debate.

The timetable is built around 6 main steps or themes reached through the sessions, each with its own learning outcomes:

1. Getting to know each other- participants get to know each other and their countries better, learn names;

2. Understanding debate- participants are introduced to the debate field and its rules; they experience their first debate in the mobility;

3. Thoughtful voting and informed democracy- they gain comprehension of the significance of thoughtful voting, develop skills of finding reliable sources for gathering political news and understand the political landscape better;

4. EU values combined with individual values- learning to define their own values and ones of EU, grasping similarities and acquiring knowledge on how to apply them in the decision-making of elections;

5. Diversity and inclusion in debate- after 5 days of getting to learn a few things about each country and perspectives they each brought in play, participants get to raise gratefulness and awareness on the unique participation of everyone and enlighten the value of interculturality in debate;

6. The importance of youth active citizenship and participation in elections- participants understand althroughout their role in the wider democracy sphere of the EU and their respective countries.

Intercultural nights

The youth exchange program has an important goal of promoting cultural understanding and appreciation. One way this is achieved is through an intercultural evening, where each national team presents their country in a creative way and also prepares some traditional food, snacks and drinks.

Accommodation

Participants will be accommodated at Pensiunea Sachsenhof.  The guesthouse has two buildings located about 200m apart. Accommodation will be done in rooms of 2-4 people each, with private bathrooms.

Travel

Bagaciu is a pretty isolated town, and you cannot get there by public transportation, therefore the city where you will need to arrive is Medias. We will ensure the transport between Medias and Bagaciu with a contracted bus.

For Lithuania; Spain and Greece: We recommend you fly to any of the airports from Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu or Bucharest and then check the available trains to Medias here: https://www.cfrcalatori.ro/en/

For Hungary: Transport will be arranged by the host organisation. To make this process to go smoothly and not interfere with any problems, the participants will be asked for a 30e deposit for the transport that will be returned to them during the project.

For Romania: Check available trains at https://www.cfrcalatori.ro/en/.

All participants must arrive in Medias no later than 21:30 on 19th November and depart from Medias no earlier than 06:30 on 30th of November. Before booking the tickets, your itinerary must be approved either by the host or sending organization.
