PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE: Sports enthusiasts from our organisation who wanted to get fitter and help promote EuroVelo, the European network of cycle routes.

DESCRIPTION: In spring 2024, six members of Asociația Cloud Five set off on a journey of learning and exploration through sport. Over approximately 300 kilometres, they cycled from Saldenburg, Germany, to Vienna, Austria, following routes from the EuroVelo network. The aim was to promote sustainable mobility and to show that cycling can be an eco-friendly and accessible way to travel short and medium distances.

Along the way, the team looked closely at how the cycling infrastructure in Germany and Austria supports green tourism, connects regions and contributes to social inclusion. The journey became a learning experience in itself: the participants observed good practices in route signage, in the way cycle paths are integrated into towns and rural areas, and in the impact they have on people's health and on the environment.

The expedition was built on teamwork and learning by doing. Every participant had a clear role, whether documenting the journey, navigating or handling logistics, which helped the group develop teamwork, strategic planning, autonomy and a sense of environmental responsibility. Conversations with local people and fellow cyclists met along the route added an intercultural perspective, showing how sustainable mobility is understood and supported in different parts of Europe.
