Key Project Details

The Move for Inclusion Youth Exchange took place from 26 April to 06 May 2025 in Bagaciu, a charming and diverse village in Mureș County, Romania. The mobility brought together 36 participants, supported by group leaders and facilitators from Romania, Georgia, Lithuania, and Spain.

The project was coordinated by Asociatia Cloud Five (Romania) in partnership with:

  • Youth For the World (Georgia)

  • VsI “uMunthu” (Lithuania)

  • WeLeaderz (Spain)

Each partner contributed to participant preparation, cultural research, and post-project dissemination, ensuring that Move for Inclusion had real impact both during the exchange and long after it ended.

Through dance, dialogue, and shared experiences, Move for Inclusion proved that inclusion starts with connection — and that even small steps, when taken together, can move Europe forward.

Objectives and Activities

The main goal of Move for Inclusion was to develop the competences of 36 young people aged 18–23 in the fields of inclusion, diversity, and cultural awareness.

The project had three specific objectives:

O1: To increase participants’ understanding of the cultural backgrounds and customs of their peers.

O2: To reduce biases and prejudices by helping participants recognize and reflect on stereotypes.

O3: To enhance active citizenship and advocacy skills related to inclusion and diversity.

Over the course of 9 days, participants engaged in a program structured around non-formal education, experiential learning, and plenty of movement-based expression. The youth exchange was divided into three main phases:

Phase 1 (Days 1–2):
The first two days focused on building trust, group connection, and a common foundation. Participants co-created a Social Contract, explored the Erasmus+ programme and Youthpass through interactive group work, and participated in sessions around personal safety and well-being. These early activities helped establish a respectful, inclusive environment where everyone felt seen and heard.

Phase 2 (Days 3–7):
This was the heart of the project. The group dove into intercultural learning through creative activities, storytelling, and facilitated discussions. They explored their own identities and shared elements of their culture through role plays, speed-dating sessions, and artistic challenges. A major part of this phase focused on dance as a tool for expression, allowing participants to explore cultural diversity through movement, collaboration, and non-verbal communication. These activities helped foster empathy, break stereotypes, and build a strong sense of community among participants.

Phase 3 (Days 8–9):
The final days were dedicated to reflection, evaluation, and forward planning. Participants assessed their personal learning outcomes through creative methods and written feedback. Together with group leaders, they also shaped the dissemination strategy, assigning tasks and setting deadlines to spread the results and messages of the project back home.

One of the highlights of the project was a dance flashmob performed during the study visit in the nearby community. It served as both an expression of cultural unity and a way to spark conversations with locals about inclusion, creativity, and the Erasmus+ programme.

Why the Project Was Implemented

Move for Inclusion was designed as a response to some of the most pressing challenges facing young people in Europe today: the need to build stronger soft skills, the desire to better understand cultural diversity, and the importance of feeling included and accepted regardless of background.

Inspired by the priorities of the European Year of Skills 2024 and initiatives such as Culture Moves Europe and Promoting Diversity in EU 2024, this youth exchange created an open space where 36 young people from Romania, Georgia, Lithuania, and Spain could connect through creativity, movement, and meaningful intercultural dialogue.

The idea for the project came directly from young people themselves, who had previously participated in similar Erasmus+ experiences and expressed the need for deeper conversations around inclusion and cultural understanding. Many of them identified gaps in awareness, stereotypes, and a lack of real intercultural connection in their local communities. Move for Inclusion offered an answer to these needs by using dance and creative expression as powerful tools for inclusion, empathy, and personal growth.

Results and Impact

Move for Inclusion left a strong and lasting impact on everyone involved. Many participants reported feeling more confident in intercultural environments, more empathetic, and more open to different ways of thinking. Several noted that they felt empowered to take on active roles in their communities and advocate for inclusion in everyday life.

Evaluations collected after the project showed that:

  • Over 70% of participants felt they had gained a deeper understanding of other cultures.

  • More than 60% reported that their attitudes toward inclusion and diversity had positively shifted.

  • A significant number began participating in local initiatives and expressed interest in future Erasmus+ opportunities.

Beyond the personal growth of participants, the project also generated tangible outputs. These included:

  • A video capturing the dance flashmob and participants’ reflections,

  • A photo gallery showcasing cultural activities and creative sessions,

  • A short booklet with interesting facts about dance benefits and characteristics of each culture that took part in the project.

  • Local dissemination events in all four countries, where participants shared their experience with peers and encouraged others to take part in Erasmus+.

Locally, the project brought international visibility to the small village of Bagaciu, sparking curiosity and engagement from residents. Young participants acted as ambassadors of inclusion and cultural understanding, showing how small actions — like dancing together — can have a big impact.
